The cabbage diet, or otherwise cabbage soup diet is based on high content of cabbage and other vegetable high in fiber, and a limited range of permissible foods. The cabbage soup diet is based on the idea that cabbage has "miraculous" properties in terms of burning fat. Although there is not any official version of the diet, all variations are based on large quantities of cabbage soup and little of anything else. Every day is allowed to eat cabbage soup in large quantities and a few other dishes: - First day: any fruit you like (except bananas) in any quantity - Second Day: Any vegetable you like (cooked or raw, except beans, peas and corn) and a baked potato with some butter. - Third Day: Any fruits and vegetables you want (except potatoes and bananas). - Fourth day: bananas (up to 8) and nonfat milk in any quantity you want. - Thursday day: boiled beef or skinless chicken breast or fish and tomatoes (up 6) and at least six to eight glasses of water. - Sixth day: beef and vegetables (excluding potatoes). - Seventh day: brown rice, vegetables (excluding potatoes) and fresh fruit juice without added sugar.
