The exercise and therefore a healthy body is the vehicle that helps us to honor the commitments of our daily lives. On the other hand, the fuel is our right and rich in nutritive value of food. Therefore we must daily provide to our bodies, these two components in order for our vehicle to have longevity. Studies have shown that during prolonged exercise (aqua aerobic, spinning, etc.), the major energy source is glycogen. Therefore, foods containing carbohydrates are very essential, because they help having better performance during aerobic activity. Equally important are the proteins that are responsible for faster muscle recovery. A mixed meal (carbohydrate and protein) within the next hour after exercise is necessary for the immediate replacement of lost energy. Of course we must not omit the fluid intake, especially during summer, because the possible dehydration affects the body's cardiovascular function and therefore exercise ability. For this reason it would be wise, during the exercise to take small amounts of water, or a sports drink that contains nutrients.
